Actually, those programs require you to have already ripped the DVD to the hard drive; they don't rip the DVD for you. Are you attempting to run AutoGK on an actual (retail) DVD disc?
Off the top of my head, I don't know what programs will rip a DVD for you and automatically convert to DivX/Xvid, but they're probably not as good as ripping the DVD yourself and then feeding the results to AutoGK, or similar. If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them? -
the DVD isnt retail...hence no Encryption..
I dunno, im new to ripping thats why i asked.. i know how to rip a movie onto the PC... but dunno what to use to convert the VOBs (as 1 structure) to DivX -
Are you converting directly from the DVD? Try copy the DVD to your HDD first.
And read a GUIDE, http://www.divx-digest.com/articles/autogk.html -
why would it make difference if the VIDEO_TS was on Har-drive instead of disc? the disc isnt protected....
?? -
well still the same...
have copied all the VIDEO_TS onto drive and when i add the IFO file it says error parsing IFO.....? -
well I think i sussed it.. its not the VIDEO_TS.IFO file.. its the VTS_02_0.VOB (for some reason) and choose the largest RPG....
BUT it encodes into AVI... i want DivX file not DivX encoded AVI -

Rip the DVD with DVD Decryptor in IFO mode. That will give you the main title as a single VOB file. Then use Divx Converter to make a .DIVX file.
But .DIVX files are .AVI files, just renamed. All you have to do to make an .AVI file into a .DIVX file (assuming the video is encoded with the Divx codec) is rename it. .DIVX can contain additional information like subtitles, chapters, menus, etc. but it doesn't have to. -
hmmm thanks huys.... as always very helpful
i have renamed a current AVI i have and yes it works
CHEERS GUYS -
You're saying - You have a player that plays .divx, but refuses to play .avi?
/Mats -
Changing ".AVI" to ".DIVX" doesn't change the container. It just changes the extension, nothing more.
/Mats -
As avi is a subset of divx (or: divx is an extension of avi), renaming a.avi to a.divx works, yes, but it does in no way alter the fact that it is a plain AVI.

ok
which is the fastest program/method to convert a DVD to .DIVX with the best results..?
I would also like to choose the size of the files if possible -
Why this urge to create a divx, as it seems like you seem to be satisfied with the features of avi, as long as it doesn't say ".avi" at the end?
Anyway, guns1inger gave you the answer: https://forum.videohelp.com/topic345246.html#1807470
TDA 3 can be used too.
/Mats -
You've been given the names of several applications that can create .DIVX files.
But if you aren't including menus, chapters, and subtitles, there is no difference between an AVI and DIVX file except the extension. The AVI container (an instantiation of the more general RIFF container) was designed to be extended. So The argument over whether a file is DIVX or AVI is simply a semantic issue. -
yeah just the main movie...
SimpleDIVX isnt working for me..it just creates log files and NFO's
DivX Author seems to work but was gunna take 3-4Hours.. a bit too long I think
DivX Converter seems OK but it doesnt allow to change any settings such as output name & destination..
Where does it stick the output file? -
