hello
I have a bunch of convert music clips that i want to make a disc of.
the problem is that one of the clips for the first minute the audio is ahead of the video by about 3-4 seconds. after a minute it syncs back up.
what would be some good suggestions for correcting this track to get the first minute back in sync? have read some help on the full track being out of sync, but nothing where it is out of sync for period and then is in sync for the remainder of the track.
any help would be truly appreciated.
thanks, marc

Are you using encoding using MPEG1 with VBR or CQ?
If so, switch to CBR mode to avoid the temporary audio desync. -
I'm acutally taking all the VCD mpg compliant videos and making a DVDR of them. the sync issue in the first minute of this particular file is a known flaw in the file and i was going to try and fix it before burning the disc.
the only thing i can think of is to split the wav file into 2 parts (the out of sync and in sync) and then play with cool edit adding some space to it at the begining. that will all be trial-and-error and will probably take forever before i'd get it right, which is why i was looking for some options from the experience people on these forums.
may be easier on me to split the mpg at the point where its sync changes and only work on the first part that is out of sync and then joing the 2 pieces up after i've fixed it.
any suggestions on a video file (mpg) cutter and joiner? or any other tools that may be helpful in what i'm trying to do?
thanks again for any help. marc -
OK. I spilt the mpg file into 2 parts. now i need to sync up the audio & video of part 1 and then join the 2 parts back together.
couple of questions....
1) the audio is ahead of the video about 3 seconds. i'm thinking i can possibly trim/pad the video for a few seconds to get it back in sync. what would be the best way to do this? any apps out there that will let you preview your adjustments to see if you have it correctly in sync?
I have to let the audio be the controller here, meaning when the audio ends it will go directly into the 2nd part.
2) whats the best way to join up the mpg file to create 1 mpg after i get this mess corrected?
thanks again for any help.....very much appreciated!! marc -
I didn't know that MPEG1 files were compatible with DVDR. In any case, cutting MPEG files will most likely create more sync problems and audio+video defects (MPEG files were not designed to be editted). You'd be better off re-encoding the video to a DVDR compatible format.

mpeg 1 aren't compatible, but i use dvd workshop to convert to mpeg2, create menus, and burn to dvdr. guess i'm going to have to snip and tuck until i get them to line up....
