What software can I use to crop video?

    I like using Virtualdub mod.
But I find that in some cases it either doesn't read the video I want to load or doesn't write the video.

I wanted to know what other software there out there that allowed cropping.

    Thanks.

All "advanced" video editors can crop, https://www.videohelp.com/tools/sections/video-editors-advanced

If you like free tools try avidemux.

What format are you trying to crop? VD or VD Mod should work for most AVI type files. For MPEG, I've used the 'Clip frame' tool in TMPGEnc encoder.

Either way, you will have to re-encode the file. Why do you need to crop?

...and is what you're wanting to do "cropping" or "trimming"? I originally was using the term cropping for wanting to cut off pieces from the beginning/middle/end. I should have been calling it trimming. Cropping involves changing the size/shape of the picture across the whole recording (which requires re-encoding).

    thanks for the replies.
i want to cut out a section of the video.
so i.e. chop off 50 pexels left and right, and 100 pixles off top and bottom for example.
