During the installation of older files on my new computer, I came across a cheatsheet I use to copy/paste chapter-break timestamps into DVDauthorGUI. When I'm recording from a non-chaptered source (TV, VCR), I like to set chapter-breaks 5 minutes apart when I burn the result file to DVD. And here's the cheatsheet I copy/paste from:

    00:05:00.00
    00:10:00.00
    00:15:00.00
    00:20:00.00

It eliminates the klutz factor of trying to type these values in each time.

Why not use the auto insert chapter feature?

I can't remember when it was added. It has been at least a year or so, I believe.
Simply use the visual chapter editor, and use the 'auto add' feature near the bottom of the form. You can assign by various durations of time (such as every 5 min, every 10 min, etc).

I know you can do it in version 1.010c -- that's when I started using the program, and noticed you can add the chapters every "x" minutes (5-min seems to be the lowest increment).

    Regards,
    George

i believe I made the field editable, so any duration (in minutes) can be used. Just type it into that field.

Thanks. That's what I get for missing staff meetings (grin). My last version was the old .099 (???) version ... and on films where I try to add meaningful chapter breaks, I try not to trust Windows Media Player's method (as the program suggests). So, I never used (or saw) the auto-add feature when I upgraded to 1.013. Again, thanks.

if the WMP method is not accurate, try out the 'alternate preview decoder', under 'tools', as it is much more accurate.

I ran into a problem were my 6 minute break ended right on the money and there were no frames for a NEW segment

so now I always check the start time of the last segment and make sure my chapter times leave a few minutes for the last segement so the movie ends , before the end of the last segement

    i vary the time 5 - 6- 0r 7 minutes segements

    depending on the movie
