DIVX pal to NTSC DVD help!

I have a divx 6.0 mpg4/mp3 file that is encoded in pal (25fps). I need to convert it to an NTSC DVD. I have access to almost all software on the mac so dont hesitate to recommend a product that will do the coversion.

Will a 2:3 pulldown work just like it does converting film to ntsc?

Make sure you really need to convert at all. Most DVD players will play both. Strictly speaking the NTSC DVD standard requires Dolby audio (as distinct from MPEG audio) but that's loosely applied these days.

Strictly speaking, pulldown doesn't apply to PAL. Pulldown is a (clever or diabolical, depending on your point of view) hack to get a 24fps film to play nice with a 29.97fps NTSC video standard. Because PAL's 25fps is already so close to film's 24fps, the latter is just sped up for PAL. This raises pitches and shortens durations by ~4%, but those are considered relatively benign distortions, relative to the alternatives.

Some people will convert PAL to NTSC by resizing the video, but leave the framerate at 25fps. Once that is done, a pulldown is applied to get the video to the NTSC framerate (29.97). In this particular instance, pulldown does apply to PAL. (But normally PAL video doesn't have a pulldown)
