I'm trying to rip a movie in decryptor but it keeps shooting up errors, it went to 24% surprisingly fast with no errors, but now it dont move even after hitting "ignore" it just seems stuck there.

Any idea what I could do to fully rip this movie? The disc isn't even that damaged I dont get it, how do people rip dvds if there disc has got the slightest of scratches? These errors are killing me

Did you try a ripper that is not old and outdated?
DVDDecrypter is still an exellent tool...but not for new(er) releases.

    DVDFabDecrypter.
It doesn't shrink....but neither does DVDDecrypter really.
Run your material through DVDShrink after DVDFabDecrypter.

Are you saying that DVD Decryptor is now so outdated that it won't work on the newest releases (ie Da Vinci Code)?

Yes....DVDDecrypter is outdated enough not to be trusted as your main DVD ripper. However I still use it very often for other "DVD/video duties" as it is not just a ripper....it never was just a ripper.

Okay but since I'm using the next one up DvdFab Platinum I "customized" and removed some extra scenes/subtitles, and did only the main movie to dvd9.....which left me in size just a little over 4 gigs. I burned that as is, would this be just the same (and without quality loss)? i figure i didnt need to run it through shrink since it would fit to dvd-r as is

However if I copy the whole movie like your saying next time and it's to big, after running my movie through DvdShrink is there a big quality loss? and is it really noticeable?

There isn't a yes/no answer as the subject is dependent on your equipment that you view it on and your personal perception. On a very large screen you may or may not see problems. On a small screen you probably won't see anything, not to say that there isn't any degredation but you probably won't notice it.

Having said that, there are people who claim to see all sorts of things after DVDShrink has processed a movie. I'm not saying they lie, because I'm not but I will say their eyesight is a darn sight better than mine.

Right right but if the former, like i did using platinum cutting out scenes, leaving me without having to convert in shrink, would this way be losing no quality?

Yes, if you just remove enough video (trailers, deleted scenes, etc.) and audio (other languages, commentaries) as necessary and what is left over will fit on a single layer DVD, there is no quality loss.

DVDShrink does a good job, but I now prefer to use DVD Rebuilder. It takes longer, but it should produce better results given that it actually re-encodes the video with a high quality encoder of your choice (you have to provide the encoder, but it does work with some free ones) instead of transcoding on the quick as DVDShrink does. Whether or not most people could really tell the difference between DVD Rebuilder and DVD Shrink is a good question, but if you just want to be sure to have the highest quality possible, I'd advise using DVD Rebuilder.

Has anyone had problems with Sony dvds? just got a rented version of Casino Royale and tried DvdFab and Dvd Decrypter and both are stuck.

You are in breach of the forum rules and are being issued with a formal warning. Please reread our rules about fairuse, you are not allowed to backup any rented movies. And please do not hijack topics.

@Willhenderson, there is a RipIt4Me Installer called the AIO Installer 3.0 that installs all the freeware programs that are needed to run RipIt4Me....I really encourage you 2 try it...I don't think you will be disappointed with the outcome...Above all no more guess work...You can download this program from here...

If it is already "sucessfully" ripped to your computer.....then just resize with DVDShrink. You can re-authour it to have only the movie on your new disc....remove unwanted audio and subtitles...you can remove so much "junk" than you may not even need to transcode(shrink) the movie....and what DVDShrink gives you when it has done it's job is burnable to a DVD right off the bat.
Check out the DVDShrink guides....it is the easiest one of the bunch to use.

@willhenderson Ripit4me does so much more than DVDRebulider.....With one click mode the program does everything for you....No guess work....You can still reauthor your dvd in DVD Shrink as you normally would....No more dvd decrypter errors for 1 and so much more....After years of dvd ripping I havent found anything that comes close to doing what Ripit4Me does in one click mode....I guaranteed you won't be disappointed....

right right i've already tried and went the route of shrink, although i was just looking for new/other solid options,..i want to get from dvd9 to 5 which is needed with most recent dvds ive bought but want a good end result (as i'm forkin out for good media and such)

a2j3 - i'm going to look over Ripit4me right now, does it have an enocder built in or do we use cce in conjunction with it like DVD-RB?

EDIT: ive got it but does this only do what decryptor does? ive got dvd fab and already have the movie ripped i need to get it shrunk to dvd 5 like rebuilder and cce do

@ willhenderson, yes it does....It uses dvd shrink....Did you download just RipIt4Me or did you download the RipIt4Me AIO Installer???? If you downloaded and installed the AIO you already have all the programs you will need....If I were you I would delete the old movie file and start fresh with RipIt4Me in 1 click mode...If you have successfully ripped your dvd with dvd fab decryter then just use dvd shrink to fit the movie on a dvd 5....
