    Hi,

While doing my backup with RipIt4Me, DVD Decryptor prompt 2 error messages.
This error message pops up several times.

This error message pops up once.

On all occasions, I click OK. After that RipIt4Me continue and Shrink follows.

Is my backup OK ? Thanks in advance.

  2. I wouldn't use DVD Dycrypter and then ask if my rip is good. Being an old member here, I'm sure you know it's not being updated anymore. Yes, I still use it on occasion too, but if I want to make sure a rip is good, I use AnyDVD or Fab decrypter

I agree with stiltman, use AnyDVD or DVDfab.

Maybe I am wrong but isn't the issue of DvdDecrypter not being updated anymore, the increasing probability of not being able to rip new DVD's, not the quality of the rip itself when it can do its job?

I have the same messages when I exit the program, once the rip has been done successfully.
I thought it might be Ripit4me so I uninstalled it and re-installed DvdDecrypter but with the same result.

I wonder whether it might be an incompatibility with Vista 64 or something else?
    Thanks for your input

    Hi stiltman, Ally68, skaleton,
    Thanks to your reply.
There are so many knowlegable people and wisdom in VH.
I don't remember seeing such message when I used Decreypter in Win XP.
So, Vista is the likely suspect. I am using Vista Home Permium.
I watch the backup copy and it plays OK.

You could try installing as administrator and running that software in xp compaitibility mode. Might make it work better.
    Start as admin guide
    vista xp compatiblity mode guide

But honestly the best solution to your problem would be to use more updated software that is known to work well with vista like dvdfab (free for decrypt) or anydvd (pay). Once ripped to your hard drive backup with shrink or dvdrebuilder as you normally would.

Vista has nothing to do with it. You are using outdated software. Dvddecrypter has not been updated in years and was not written to take advantage of Vista's security model.
Believing yourself to be secure only takes one cracker to dispel your belief.

I am probably missing something but what I ask of a ripper is to be able to transfer a DVD to my HD so that I may burn it and then play it.
In that perspective, I do not see much difference between DvdFabDecrypter, AnyDvd or DvdDecrypter.
There is a difference when you burn a DVD DL with ImgBurn. They consider a break layer with the splip not set better than when it is set. DvdDecrypter maintains the splips unchanged whereas DvdFabDecrypter changes all splips to set. But I don't know how important that is.

Anyway, to come back to the subject, just running the program as admin removes all the messages when closing it. Didn't need to run it in XP compatibility mode.
Thank you freebird73717 for the valuable tip that I may try on some old programs I still used on my XP.

Well, Dv8ted2 & 2 others pretty much answered it.... But just to clear it up a little more

DvdDecrypter has NOT, repeat, NOT been updated in years and does not handle newer copy protections.

Glad my tip helped solve your problem but realize that sooner or later you are going to find a disc that ripit4me and dvddecrypter just cant handle. When that day comes use dvdfab or anydvd as they are both updated to handle the latest protection schemes.

First I already use DvdFAbDecrypter. So you do not have to convince me.
sooner or later you are going to find a disc that ripit4me and dvddecrypter just cant handle.
That is exactly in other words what I wrote earlier.
isn't the issue of DvdDecrypter not being updated anymore, the increasing probability of not being able to rip new DVD's
The point I am trying to make is that for the disks they can handle, any of these programs is as good as the other. In that perspective, noahtuck and the others did not contradict me.
Actually I want to be able to keep DvdDecrypter mainly because it seems to handle used dvd's slightly better than DvdFabDecrypter.
But there are already various threads discussing the pro's and con's of decrypters.
As far as this thread is concerned, I think we can agree that pchan's issue was solved by freebird73717

  12. No they are not the same IMO.
    DVDdecrypter, was better

When Fab decrypter first came out, it was brutel. and many discs rips had to be fixed prior to doing anything with them.

A lot of things have changed since Fab decrypter first came out. DVD decrypter is dead, until updated of course

I have had the same error message when I installed a lite-on sata burner on a older amd computer running xp os. The fix was to download and install updated sata drivers from msi website. On the same computer I also installed a ide lite-on burner and did not have any issues with error messages.
