    thanx very much. The settings look quite complicated compared to TMPGENC XPress.

    If you are talking about resizing widescreen avi files for letterboxed playback, use FitCD to create an avisynth file to do it, and load this into CCE instead. CCE has only basic resizing. Avisynth does it better.

    Depends on the resolution of the AVI, whether you're encoding for 4:3 or 16:9, and whether or not you want to add black around the outside to account for your TV set's overscan. Here's the FulciLives guide to using FitCD:

    Test your .avs in VDub(Mod) before sending to CCE. This is to make sure the .avs is good.

    To open it in CCE, either drag it into the small box, or right-click the box, click on the "Add" button, and browse to your .avs.
