I'm using TMPGEnc XPress to encode in 16:9. The VOB files play on my pc in widescreen like they're supposed to. Though when I burn to a DVD and play in a DVD player the movie blows up to fullscreen. Why is this? I've messed with every setting I could find on my DVD player and that doesn't seem to be the problem. The movie was originally widescreen and I'm stumped, I've encoded twice and can't seem to fix the problem. Any solutions?

Not sure if I can help but I know others can.. but you need to be more specific in what you're trying to accomplish. Sounds like you're trying to convert source 4:3 letterbox to 16:9 ?? Disclose exactly what your source is, what your settings in TMPG Xpress were, your DVD player is set to 16:9/widescreen TV output, etc.

I've been following this guide https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=249135 trying to burn a movie that's letterbox, when I burn the compiled DVD and play it in my DVD player it's no longer letterboxed it's full screen and looks all stretched out. I've tried setting my player to 16:9 and letterbox, it doesn't change anything. I believe I've figured out the problem though seems it may have been a setting in TMPG ... I'll know something in 4 hours.

Generally, the displayed aspect ratio is set in the authoring program.
    ICBM target coordinates:
    26° 14' 10.16"N -- 80° 16' 0.91"W

Sounds good. Hope it works out.

A suggestion.. Will save you so much time if you just encode a 5min test clip instead of the whole video, esp. after identifying problems. Hopefully that won't happen in your case.

If your TV is a 4:3 TV, your player should be set to letterbox. If it is a widescreen TV then it should be set to widescreen or 16:9.

When you author you must first encode the video as 16:9, which you seem to have done, then author as 16:9. Both need to be done to ensure correct playback.

You can alter the flags in the video before authoring with ReStream, and the IFO files after authoring with IFOAR2WS
