When I burn my own dvd's using AVI files as the source I do not get sound on my cyberhome dvd player. It does play sound on my computer dvd player though. This only seems to happen when I put multiple AVI files onto the dvd. I have the latest version of Nero (7 ultra) The video does play properly. I am thinking of trying out convertxtodvd because of better support of subtitles....
    Thanks!

The video and audio on DVD has to be the same format in all the files in one VTS. I do not know what NERO does during encoding, but it could be that your audio is different in some of your AVI files since when you encode and play only one it is OK.
Other problem could be that NERO encodes the audio in the format your DVD player does not support. For USA common format is AC3 audio.
You can get free software called Gspot to check the format of the audio and video Nero export.

With Nero, I could only get three 25 minute episodes on the dvd and keep excellent quality (remember the sound didnt work either) with convertxtodvd I got 8 (yes, 8) episodes on one dvd and the quality looks superior to that of Nero and the sound works. I reckon thats a keeper!
