Been trying to figure this one out but am lost and need some help.

I created several WMV files using Windows Movie Maker and am trying to burn them to a DVD.
I tried NERO 7, with Vision 4.0 Added the WMV, created a menu and burned it. Once done I tried to play in both on my computer and on my DVD player (hooked to TV). Either way I get video and no sound at all.

If I load the VOB up in Nero Showtime 3.0 it will play and have sound no problem. So there is sound in the VOB file. Just to furhter confuse (or maybe help) things.
If I copy the VOB file to my computer, from the newly created DVD, rename the extension to MPG Windows Media player it plays but I get no sound or video, just a black screen, while the counter moves. WMP does say aquiring codec, codec installed,m etc.

I then downloaded TMPGEnc and tried it, same problem, great video and no sound.

So I am now at a loss, any ideas out there? Should I convert the WMV to something else first?

No. You should output as DV avi directly from movie maker.

Personally I wouldn't use Nero, either, but some people like it.

    Will give that a try.
Unfortunately I have about 100 home made video clips I copied from the VCR camera to computer and then created WMV's with them. I hope I don't have to load each one into WMM and redo. That would take some time. Am trying to convert these home movies to DVD for the in-laws.

If you captured them through WMM and converted them WMV at the time then it is too late to do much about it. Try using something other than Nero to do the conversion for you. ConvertXtoDVD will handle WMVs, although it isn't free. FAVC might do it (haven't tried with WMV files as I don't have any that are DVD quality/worthy). DVD Flick will also probably do it, but it doesn't create menus.
