  1. Hey Guys. I'm a complete and utter newbie and have been lookin for this information for 3 days. I have a decrypted DVD on my HDD complete with IFO's VOB's and BUP's. I've tried putting the video's only a dvd with a menu, but they keep getting burnt with no sound. Can anyone tell me how to burn the files on to a DVD player playable Disc, with sound? I'm so confused its not funny. If this isn't enough information I can link you to the discussion I had in PCPP forums, who lead me here.

That has the entirety of the problem. Please, I feel you guys are my last hope for this newbie! ARGH!

If you already have a DVD compliant compilation (It should have a folder labelled Video_TS, and the IFO, VOB's should be contained within), then the correct profile using Nero SmartStart would be "Burn DVD-Video Files", not "Make Your Own DVD-Video". You just drag all the files contained in the Video_TS folder over to the compilation screen.

Before wasting DVD's I would test to see if what you have is truly DVD video files... It's unclear what you have or how you got it (at least to me).

Try playing it with a software DVD player and see if what you have works first, with sound. If this works, then proceed with the steps above.

  3. Ok, here is what I did from the start. I had a video camera's fottage burnt to a DVD for me, and used a DVD decrypter to get the files onto my computer. Now the files are on my computer and I don't have the DVD anymore. Here is a list of the files

    Trigger.tbt
    VIDEO_TS.BUP
    VIDEO_TS.IFO
    VIDEO_TS.VOB
    VTS_01_0.BUP
    VTS_01_0.IFO
    VTS_01_1.VOB
    VTS_02_0.BUP
    VTS_02_1.VOB
    VTS_03_0.BUP
    VTS_03_0.IFO
    VTS_03_1.VOB
    VTS_04_0.BUP
    VTS_04_0.IFO
    VTS_05_0.IFO
    VTS_05_1.VOB
    VTS_06_0.BUP
    VTS_06_0.IFO
    VTS_06_1.VOB
    VTS_07_0.BUP
    VTS_07_0.IFO
    VTS_07_1.VOB
    VTS_08_0.BUP
    VTS_08_0.IFO
    VTS_08_1.VOB
    VTS_09_0.BUP
    VTS_09_0.IFO
    VTS_09_1.VOB

Now what I want to do is forget all the other files and put VTS_01_1.VOB and VTS_01_2.VOB into a DVD that is playable on a DVD player, with a dcorated menu so you can select which of the 2 videos you want to watch. There was no Video_TS folder anywhere at all. I tried the method you suggest but it gave me not option to make a menu at all.

I hope this helps! This is pretty important to me.
    Thanks
    Scotty

Use VOB2MPG to extract the video and audio from the two VOBs you want so that you have two mpg files. You can then author with these using any decent authoring tool, or failing that, NeroVision. The audio is probably AC3. You may have to purchase an extra plugin to get AC3 functionality in Nero. Don't use it, so I can't confirm this.

DVDAuthorGUI can accept your VOB files as is. Use this and make your DVD with a menu to select between your clips.

A guide for DVDAuthorGUI can be found at http://download.videohelp.com/liquid217/dvdauthorgui.pl?p=guide1. Best of all, DVDAuthorGUI is freeware!

  6. guns1inger, You were right. There is no audio in the DVD I made from the MPEG. and cogoSWSDS, it may accept most VOB files as is, but not mine. It came up with some bizarre error. Is there any way to get the files I have and put them into nero starsmart DVD-Video WITH audio? I've been to about 4 different forums and nobody has had the answer yet. Should I give up? I mean why would Nero delete the sound from the Mpg file? why wouldn't it just add it too? Im going totally crazy with this... please help!

I can suggest a couple of other programs, but before you try them, try this. Open the mpg files with the latest g-spot and confirm the audio content.

    Then you can try

    1. Authoring with GUIForDVDAuthor and the mpg files (not the VOBs)
    2. ConvertXtoDVD - this will re-encode however
    3. Tmpgenc DVD Author demo

  8. When you say confirm, do you mean confirm its existance, or confirm its type?

  9. Well I checked and it said AC3 codec.

Do you know a program that can get the sound from an MPG file? If I can just seperate it as a song file then I can combine it, But premiere pro just keeps jamming when I open the MPG file of the VOB, converted by VOB2MPG

Use DGIndex to demux the files, then you can use GUIForDVDAuthor to author the results.

Just quit using Nero, it most likely is because of the stupid AC3 plug-in,i got almost every plug-in when i got my Nero and the sound would work but there would be a popping sound,so the plug-in didnt help much(the popping sound only accured when i used nero) and previewed it,i have used other programs to burn my video files

  14. oh. guess what. now it won't work on my DVD player. Is it cause I used Nero or cause I stuffed up? It works on my computer, but when i put it in my dvd player it says no disc. Do you know of a good program that won't typically have this error, or how i can fix it with?

Test the disc on several players before binning it. It could be a media issue, or a compatibility issue with your player.

Personally, I would use DVD Lab Pro for authoring, but GUIForDVDAuthor will also work well. Compile the disc structure to your HDD, test it, then burn the results to DVD media using Imgburn.

Wow... I read that about 5 times and then went into my GUIForDVDAuthor program and couldn't find anything about compiling a disc structure, or testing 1. sorry if im totally wasting you time here, but I really have no clue about this stuff. I just don't understand how this has taken 5 days to get this far... ugh...

I guess I need to find another dvd player. My computer will open it with power DVD though, so it must be a compatability issue. I just wish I could send the DVD to my friend and be sure it would work on their player or at least their computer.

Some tools call it Author, some call it Compile, some call it Build. On GUIForDVDAuthor it is Create DVD (I had to check the screenshot on the Tools page to confirm this). The important thing is not to burn the DVD before you test it. When you create the DVD it should be saved to a video_ts folder on your HDD somewhere. Play test to make sure it works, then burn.

However everything you are saying points to the problem being either the media, or the burning application.

If you haven't burned with Imgburn, do so and test. If it works then you are doing something wrong in Nero.

If it doesn't, buy a different brand of media and try again (with Imgburn)
