I'm a beginner, working with Vegas 7.0 and DVD Architect 4.0.

Here's my scenario: I have an AVI which I have brought into Vegas. My Vegas project has been setup as 5.1 Surround. I render the Project as two seperate files, the video MPEG and the Dolby 5.1 Surround AC-3.

However, once I burn it to DVD and put it into a player, the audio is only regular Stereo, not 5.1 Surround.

    What am I doing wrong?

I'm sure it's something small and silly, but any help would be appreciated!

Check your DVDA project settings. If they are set to AC3 2.0 then your audio will be re-encoded.

Also, open your VOBs in g-spot and check to see just what audio is in the finished disc.

DVD Architect Project Settings show AC-3 5.1 Surround. And running GSpot on VTS_01_1.VOB shows:

    Codec: AC3
    Info: 0xbd[0x80]:48000Hz 448 kb/s tot , 6 chnls (3/2 .1)

Although I think it flashes "3/2.1" on the display, it still ends up on "Stereo" instead of "Surround", and nothing is coming out of the rear speakers.

I took a small clip of a sample project and made a very small DVD, which I have uploaded with this post. It contains about 28 seconds - Audio Only (in order to make it fit within the upload limits).

On my system, it plays as regular stereo, with nothing coming out of the Rear Speakers. You guys can test it for yourself.
