If you search the forums you will find several guides for different methods for creating faux surround from stereo sources, however you need to remember a couple of things.

One, it will not be true surround sound.

Two, You will get as good an effect in most cases (and often better) from using a ProLogic II enabled amplifier.

Three, your source is already compressed (possibly heavily) by the MP3 compression. MP3 compression also has a tendency to muddy the stereo separation, further reducing the quality and any surround effect you might try to create. Given this, DTS is overkill and you would be better off going for 384 kbps AC3 and using the extra bitrate for the video.

Thank u so much 4 reply and i m so sorry 4 retard,

I understand from you that its better to leave my stereo, or I'll damage the sound by conversion to surround. OK, but I don't know why I get a good effect when I install k-lite mega codec pack and setting the output mode to 7.1 surround, I want only to get the same effect, is it possible?

How to record a speech as surround ? I've adobe audition 3.0 and I can use any other program.

Forgive me, I'm beginner in encoding principles.

If you really want to record a speech as surround you'll need to set up multiple microphones around the room and record each one to a distinct channel...but if you only want to capture the speaker there's really no point to doing this.

Unless you have a discreet 6 or 8 channel audio file of substantial quality, there is no benefit over just letting your surround receiver do its job of creating a "fake" surround mix on the fly.

It depends on what sort of surround effect you want from the speech. If you want the voice to come from different speakers, record the track as a single, mono recording, then use a multi-track editor cut the source into pieces and to place these around the surround field. I would use Vegas for this because it has very strong surround editing tools.
