I'm waiting to order a PV-GS300 until I can find a suitable mic to order also. I need something that mounts easily on the 300 and doesn't pick up noise my hand will make on the camera while filming. My primary recording will be a local bluegrass act with amplified bass, violin, and such. Not overpowering, but a decent volume. I'd also like to have the flexibility to record louder events without distortion.
Now I'm not expecting miracles for the price I want but I have total budget of about $600. The camcorder takes $500 so the rest goes to a mic.

I'm looking at the Sony ECM-907. It looks like a decent all purpose mic for amateur recordings. The price is right for me. My main concern is how to mount this to a camcorder.
