  1. I am thinking of purchasing the new:
    ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon AIW 8500 128MB DDR.
(I want better gaming but want to keep my video capture ability).

    I already own the
ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon AIW 32MB DDR (first radeon AIW).

One depressing thing I've noticed in the last few months is that ATI
has removed VFW capture ability in their latest drivers.... (correct me if I'm wrong)...

For example, I noticed that with the newer drivers my Avi_io capture utility would start to have weird crashes before capturing could take place (even with the vfw wrapper). Then I remember reading somewhere that ati had removed vfw for good or somehting like that... my solution was to use older ATI video drivers which work well with AVI_IO and the vfw wrapper.

So to make a long story short.... Has anybody used AVI_IO or VDUB to capture multiple segements of video successfully with Radeon 8500 gpu and the newer drivers?

    Thanks

  2. "If your capture application (e.g. Netmeeting) is only capable of using Video for Windows for capture, then it will not function with the current ATI display drivers.

ATI presently has no plans to offer Video for Windows capture support in future driver releases for these products as Video for Windows has been superceded by DirectShow."
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  3. Well... then how do people who own a radeon AIW 8500 and have fat32 capture multiple .avi segements if they cannot use avi_io or virtualdub? has anybody tried using these two with the mentioned setup?

I know there is iuvcr...but sometimes that has problems framserving with vdub.... any other comments greatly appreciated...
