Hey ppls...am using Samsung SyncMaster 940BW..it's a 19" WS LCD. Max reso is 1440x900 which is what I use. After updating the latest Nvidia drivers it reboots and then goes all crazy. It boots into 1440x900 but the desktop appears larger than the screen. Meaning as I move my mouse to the right side of the screen it would move further; revealing more of the desktop. If I change to other reso, it's all good. so what's wrong with the latest drivers and the 1440x900 reso?? Anyone knows anything or has similar prob? Please help...

you can reinstall the old one that was working. or try redoing the new one again. make sure all the settings are correct after. 1440x900 32bit 60hz. and that the correct monitor is listed in properties. go into advanced and make sure all the adapter settings are right.

haven't heard of any problems with the newest drivers but sometimes the settings get messed up anytime new drivers are installed. as a last resort go to the hardware manager and uninstall the adapter reboot and let windows reinstall it as new hardware.

I haven't tried the "latest" version (released last week), but the version before that (maybe 2-3 weeks old) has known issues with widescreen displays. So you have to go back to an older version for WS support.

  4. First tell me what you are reffering to by saying latest drivers? Do you mean the latest NVIDIA Beta drivers released a ago or you have installed ForceWare 162.18 WHQL released in July. Also you running Vista or WinXP?
It has happened me a way back and i figured this was the reason due to improper installation.
Here what you should do :
    1. Install DH Driver Cleaner Pro.
    2. Uninstall the current Forceware drivers from control panel.
    3. Reboot into Windows Safe Mode.
    4. Run Driver cleaner pro and choose "nVidia" in the cleaning selection drop down menu and click start, after dcp completes deleting all the related files, reboot into windows normal mode and install the latest WHQL 162.18 forceware version if you are running win xp or 163.69 WHQL if running vista.
You only need beta drivers to solve some compatibility issues in the latest games i.e. Bioshock, World in coflict.
This method will probably solve ur problem.

Hmm..am using winXP SP2... And I meant the forceware 162.18...but now a 163.71 is already out and i'm downloading that at the moment. Soshould I follow your steps for every graphic drivers update? Or just for that 162.18? Last time I used to update by just installing and overlapping the previous drivers and it was all good. Only with this 162.18 has it been giving me problems.
Anyways as I said, will be getting the 163.71 now and see what happens.
Hmm and what do you mean by the beta drivers?

I always install the new version over the old one without any issues. As I noted above, there was a known issue with widescreen resolutions. I haven't tried the newest version yet, so I don't know if it has been corrected or not.
