  1. hi.

I'm new to video-editing and was just screwing around using Adobe Premiere 6.0, and its just overall really choppy when im playing videos in the timeline preview screens and such.

I know I don't have t he best computer but surely it shouldnt be as choppy as this
    Comp Specs are AMD Duron 700, 512mb pc133 ram, Geforce2 GTS 32mb.
    OS is Win98SE.

Anyone have a possible solution to this? If I add 2 audio tracks it usually can't keep up with them both and skips/goes out of sync. The video also chops/goes out of sync.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Could be a lot of reasons but check for your Video card driver & sound card vs Adobe premiere issues.
Also, be sure not to run any other progz in the background when editing.
Your editing stuff should be on your faster Drive and this one should be defragmented....
Reinstall premiere could do the trick also sometimes...

    Bonne chance!!

  3. Usually, it is because your hard drive is not fast enough. Do you use 7200 rpm ATA 60/100 drive? If not, that is the problem. Upgrade! Sometimes, ATA drives need installation of specific ATA drivers without which they do not work fast (in my case). Then you should install such drivers. Cheers

  5. Well, I have almost the same set up as you. AMD Duron 700. Using WinXP and Premiere 6, I did not have the problems you mentioned. Agreed with the post above that a 7200rpm harddisk is important. Try getting the upgrades to Premiere from the Adobe site, that might help.
