  1. I capture a movie from a VHS tape that is of course 4x3.
I crop it with vdub as the movie have hardcoded black bars on top and bottom
it looks close to 16:9 now and I save it as 720x480 Huffy.

But other programs thinks this files aspect ratio is 3:2
If I try to author a DVD with NERO Vision as a 16:9 it will add big bars on the side
as this program think the files is a 3:2 source.

So how do you tell Nero Vision that the source is 16:9?

Or how to you change the aspect ratio in a AVI file like Huffy?

Use a real encoder. NeroVision is rubbish.

The easiest method with that program is probably just encode the mpeg2 files as 4:3 (without adding the black bars) then use DVD Patcher to change the header. It can make them 16:9 easily. I would patch 'copies' of your originals leaving them unaltered (just in case). lol

    Other than that... Use Tmpgenc.

As far as aspect ratios and Huffy goes the latest version of VirtualDub, v1.7.0, has a unique resize filter with all the aspect ratio settings needed but for the life of me I could never get it to work properly.

    Good luck.
