I've got a 10 episode Japanese TV series and 10 srt. files that go along with it. All the video files are AVI, 704x396, DivX6 and each episode is around about 700mb - 1200mb.

I wanna record 4 discs as:
    D1: ep1 and 2
    D2: 3, 4 and 5
    D3: 6, 7 and 8
    D4: 9 and 10

I wanna have a basic menu and subtitles which can be turned off and on doesn't matter about a subs menu. I can convert the videos to DVD using WinAVI but would I be able to add subs and a menu to that?

I can't seem to find the right tutorial so could someone direct me to it

Have you looked in this part of the guides section? https://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?howtoselect=3;24#3;24

You haven't said what software you have available. I wouldn't recommend WinAVI for much of anything, as it will likely make a mess of it. Not too popular around here. You likely need a more profession authoring program if you want to do all that. DVD Lab would be one to look into. You might be able to use the freeware GUI for dvdauthor. Or for a all in one that works well, unlike WinAVI, try ConvertXToDVD.

No problem. There are a lot of members that do episodic DVDs. If you can ask the right specific questions, they should be able to help you further. Sorry, I don't do them myself. And I haven't used DVD Lab.

Probably the best place to start with DVD Lab would be their website: http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/history.html It can be a complex program, but it should do what you want.

For AVI to DVD, I generally use TMPGEnc encoder. I take out the audio with VirtualDub Mod and save as a WAV file. Then I convert that WAV to AC3 with ffmpeggui. I add it back with the video during authoring. I only use TMPGEnc to encode the video. If your AVI audio is MP3 VBR, this will save you a lot of problems later, especially sync problems.

I don't use subs that often, but DVD Lab should handle them with no problems. I normally use TDA for authoring and it doesn't do subs.

But give ConvertXToDVD a try. It may be able to do what you want and much better than WinAVI. It's not much for fancy menus, but it does do subs. And it's easy to use. The individual tools, such as encoders and authoring programs work best for quality and control, but they do have a bit of a 'learning curve', so it takes some time to figure them out.

    Yeah man,

use ConvertxtoDVD, is a terrific program, it lets you add subs to your movie, and make simple menus.

DVD lAb Pro, is a little more complicate, it took me one day to learn the main features, but after you learn them, you can do some reealy great menus.

    Good Luck

Thanks guys I'm using ConvertXToDVD its quite basic and seems very good.

There one problem I'm having though, I'm following this guide http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/vso_convertxtodvd_guide.cfm

The problem I'm facing is with chapters, it doesn't let me have a chapter at say 01:55 min it seem to only let me make chapters like 01:15, 01:30, 01:45 and so on so only chapters every 15 seconds. so yeah know y?

It«s verry simple: when you add a movie, you press in the little plus (+), and you down until you find the chapters option, in there you press with the right click and select what you want. Just see in the image where you need to go:
