  1. ive been trying to convert a divx movie into dvd using cce but i was wondering if you have to resize the avi before using cce to resize it to 720x480. for example: my avi file is 624x352. the aspect ratio is 1.773. can i just put this into cce and tell it to resize it to 720x480 or do i have to crop anything off the video or stretch it before doing this? ive read guides that said that this is like a 1.78 aspect and to handle it as 720x480, but then i read this: http://www.doom9.org/mpg/avistretching.htm so im not sure if i need to crop the avi or stretch it or just throw it in cce and tell it to make it 720x480. thanks.

Personally, I would use FitCD to generate a simple avisynth script, and feed the script to CCE for encoding. FitCD can create scripts for 4:3 or 16:9 (anamorphic) encoding. You know the output will be correct, and the Lanczos4Resizer in avisynth is superior to the resize filter in CCE. (Nowadays, I have a couple of standard scripts that I use for resizing that have extra filters etc applied. I use FitCD to calculate the numbers for the resize, copy them into the script, and Bob's your father's brother)
