I know this question is a bit vague, but someone may suggest something that will work.

I'm burning non copyrite DVDs. Some are from another source, some are DVDs I have authored myself.
I get a failure rate of about 1 in 4.
When they fail, it seems to be at the actual burning stage of the procedure.

I have nothing else running, and just leave the computer alone when it does it's thing.

When a file fails to burn, It will always burn at another attempt.
I'm just getting too many coasters.

Anything obvious I could look at?

    Thanks

W need a bit more information What burner are you using, and what brand of media are you using?
Have you had success in the past? Have yoiu recently changed the brand of disk you usually use?
Do the successful burns play in your standalone player?
We can't make any assessments w/o that information.

    O.K. Thanks for the reply

    Using an LG burner
    Using TDK DVD-R discs
Successful burns play on anyones DVD player

I have a Nero registry checker that shows errors even after a successful burn. The registry checker corrects these (Or so it says)

I can burn audio and data discs with 100% success.

I'm guessing you got a bad batch of disks. This is not uncommon, even with other brands. I stopped using TDK once they were no longer made in Japan. The only brand I'll use that are not made in Japan is Verbatim.
Try some different disks, maybe a 5 pack to reduce your costs, and see if the problem still persists. This will tell you if the problem is with the disks or the drive.
A side note....I no longer use Nero to burn my DVDs. I use dvddecrypter. I only use Nero to burn data or audio disks.

Nero should have generated a log when the burn failed. You might want to look at that (It's very detailed and very long ) and see what the error was that stopped the burn and when it occurred. If you find the error, post it here.

Here is one site with some Nero error help: http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45942
And from the Nero site: http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/FAQs_Products_NeroBurningROM_Error-Messages.html

What is your procedure for burning a file with DVD Decrypter?

I create an ISO file either with dvd shrink or TDA, then use dvd decrypter to burn the ISO file.

What speed is the Media rated for? Also how fast are you burning?

    Media rated at 16X
    Burning at max speed.
That may be something worth trying (Burning at a lower rate)

But I have just burned 3 DVDs. After every burn Nero registry checker shows errors with the registry.

I fixed this with the Nero registry checker and rebooted computer.
    I got three successful burns.

I will follow this procedure for all subsequent burns and see what happens.

Any ideas why my registry gets corrupted?
