So I was thinking was X FILES the only TV show to make a theatrical feature movie DURING its first run? Most tv shows that end up with a movie are over with by the time the movie hits. Like Star Trek for example. The series was long dead before the Motion Picture came out - or even TNG - it was after season 7 was over and the series finished before Generations hit the theater.

And all of these tv - movie creations these days are of shows from twenty or more years ago.

Did X Files make history (at least US history) by being the first to make a movie during its initial run????
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

Hmm... Good point. I don't know if that was during the run or after the show was off.

Either way it is a rare event.

    South Park.

Another that is a bit iffy is Power Rangers. I don't know about that since it wasn't the original run but it was the original US run and the movie was an American thing.

What kind of a man are you? The guy is unconscious in a coma and you don't have the guts to kiss his girlfriend?

I'd say Babylon 5 but that really doesn't count since they were made for TV movies.

Some of the original Battlestar Gallactica episodes were edited into feature length and theatrically released in Europe. Also, Thunderbirds Are Go was made in 1966, while the series was still in production.

The Doctor Who films made while the series was running were made independently, hence the change of cast.
