  1. I've recently downloaded a movie but when I play it in WMP (same problem with Real) I'm unable to hear the audio.
    The file is supposed to be a XVID and my codecs are updated.
    Video is great. I can't hear any sound at all.
    Of course other downloads are ok.
    The file is reported to have a "xvid" and a" AC3" in its name, just in case it would be of any help...

    Install ac3 filter.

    Or use a player with builtin ac3 support like VLC Media Player.

    Any way I can now improve the sound? It's very very low and have to turn my volume knowb at almost the maximum to actually listen to it

    you can booost the volume in the ac3 filter settings.
