I have the file in Dvd format already and I use TMPGEnc DVD author to add a menu to it. But when I click output, it takes over 40 minutes to output
Is there anyway to add the menu without re-encoding the video. The video already in .vob format and during the output it says writing clip "Title 1" of.....
So that must mean that it the video it is encoding.
It sucks waiting 40 minutes for just a menu.
Is there anyway I could get the menu file alone and I could just put it in the folder with the .vob file and burn the dvd.
And if it helps, the .vob file is under 4 gig(There is 4 .vob files, 1 gig each)
Thanks

Have you tried something like vob2mpg and loading the converted mpg and starting from there? Maybe you'd get faster results if you start with a dvd compatible mpg file rather than a vob????

Do you mean an mpeg2 format file?
But I thought TMPGEnc Dvd author is an authoring program(Menus, chapter, etc) not a converting program, so why does it take so long or re-encodes the file. -
I do have a question - you aren't making "motion menus" are you??? If you are that adds a lot of time to the procedure to make short video clips of each windows.

kalze,
TDA does not encode VOB files. It copies VOB files to another folder and makes a menu which takes about 8 min on my computer (P4 2.8 Gig) for a 4 Gig DVD.
I suspect your transfer mode is set to PIO and not DMA for the "IDE ATA/ATAPI controlers".
Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager/IDE ATA/ATAPI controlers/Advanced Settings.
Just a thought,

I seem to remember reading a few post here, that the new "smart-rending tool" on v2
re-encodes even some compatible Mpegs.
Someone more familiar with that version will have to answer though...I still use v1.6The Devil`s always.....in the Details!
