    Hi experts,
I am using DVD slideshow GUI, which is a great program, to generate a picture slide show with a great menu navigation generator. It only allows import of mp3 or wav files though... I have a 5.1 AC3 file that I want to use...

Here are the files that DVD slideshow GUI generates if I use the export all option:
December 2006.ac3 -> (This is a blank file as I didn't specify any audio)
    December 2006.dsg
    December 2006.m2v
    December 2006.txt

Here are the files that DVD slideshow GUI generates if I select export to GFD:
December 2006_180.ac3 -> (This is a blank file as I didn't specify any audio)
    December 2006_e0.m2v
    December 2006.gfd

So I can import the dsg file into GUI for DVDAuthor and all of the menu stuff is perfect. How can I go about adding the 5.1 AC3 file and/or delete the empty ac3 file?

    Thanks,
    Chris

For the menu or for the slideshow (which is a 'Film' in GfD)?

Have you tried contacting the author? I find it bizarre that this programs allows you to use MP3 because that is completely invalid for DVD. It must be converting those to WAV. If you don't get an answer from anyone, you will probably have to convert your 5.1 AC3 file to 2 channel WAV and import that. You can do this kind of conversion through BeSweet GUI and other programs.

You have demaxed your compilation and have .m2v file.
Put your .m2v in MuxMan and import your AC3 audio also - remux. You will end up with what you want.
Just make sure that length of both files is same.

    Tinker,
Not sure I follow you. My AC3 files are not even close to the same size as 5.1 format uses a lot more space than stereo.

Muxman will mux the video and audio but then how do I add the menu stuff to it?

    Thanks,
    Chris

  7. Hi-

My guide is for editing menu backgrounds, but the same principles apply for substituting in a new audio:

  8. If your 5.1 ac3 file has the same length as the rendered m2v slideshow file, can't you just change it in GFD? (Right click on the film and change the audiofile? Look here: http://download.videohelp.com/gfd/Help/VideoFileDialog.html

(I have no idear how a .ac3 5.1 audiofile is treated in GFD, newer tried it.)

I find it bizarre that this programs allows you to use MP3 because that is completely invalid for DVD.
DSG converts from mp3 and wav(most used formats for music) to ac3 or mp2(used by dvdauthor and muxman)

I did not say "same SIZE" I said "Same LENGTH" in hours, min. And this means length of your .m2v and AC3 5.1 file.
Once you have maxed your show, you can replace it back in the DVD Authoring program and use your old menu or make new one.

  10. AC3 5.1 audiofile is no problem in GfD (neither for MuxMan nor for dvdauthor as engine). Just change it in the Video + Audio files dialog as tin2tin mentioned. Of cause (as tinker said) it should have the same duration as the slideshow. But GfD will warn you if the durations are different.

Ok, I replaced the existing AC3 with the new 5.1 AC3 in GFD and it works when I play the slideshow.

    Thanks,
    Chris
