  4. spiderman03,

    I would also use DVDFabDecrypter, as Yoda has said. It's fairly good and easy to use.

    What would you like to do with your DVD once you have ripped it?

    There are loads of guides over on the left-hand side of your screen. I know just how many there are, and how daunting it can be - I was there too, once. Choose a guide, and if you get stuck, post back up here and I'm sure you will get all the help you need.

    Best of luck,

    Use this guide which shows you PICTURES on how to use DVDFAB DECRYPTER then to use DVDSHRINK. This guide is easy to follow since it has PICTURES, all you do is click with your mouse NEXT to see how each step is done.

    Work on a couple of basic principles:

    1. First you need to 'decrypt' the dvd you are intending to rip. Hence DVDFab Decrypter. This then places the files from the DVD on your hard drive; that's the COMPLETE disc.

    If burning to dual layer, then ignore next step.

    2. The next thing to do is to 'shrink' these dvd files to fit on a sinlge blank disc. Hence DVDShrink. Simply 'open files', wait for 'analysing' then back-up and/or burn your now 'shrunken' dvd. Thats it.

    If you wish to select certain parts then DVDShrink can do this in 'reauthor' mode. Simply drag them from the right and drop to the left and then back them up. There's a bit more to that and its too long for me to explain on a post-simply choose a guide for dvdshrink.

    Tip: Use a RW disc until you are comfortable with process.

  14. thanks, i did the steps and used dvd shrink and then i clicked back up and noe ist encoding. so then i take that file that is encoding and burn it to a dvd? do i have to use tnpegnc or i could just burn it to a dvd, if so does this program allowes me to do so..........is this all correct?

    DVD Shrink uses Nero to burn with by default. If you have it installed, it will use it. If you don't have it, install the freeware DVD Decrypter and it can use that. You would have to uncheck 'Enable burning with Nero' in Preferences.

    If you Unchecked the box as you just stated then of course it will not burn with anything!

    What burning program do you have installed? If it is Nero you need to CHECK the box not uncheck it. You access it when you are about to do the actual backing up of the disk. There you assign a path for the AUDIO / VIDEO_TS folders or the ISO and you also choose what it is you want the program to do next.

    Burn with Nero or Burn ISO with DVD Decrypter.

    You need to also make sure that your burning sw whether it is Nero or decrypter is set to the correct burner and the correct mode.

    Follow these steps very carefully-i will try to make it as simple and idiot proof as possible:

    1. So you've opened up dvdshrink and pressed 'open files', then gone to the VIDEO_TS folder of the dvd that you just backed up;
    2. When you select the folder, dvdshrink will 'analyse' the file for approx 30-40seconds and then the screen will change and 99% of time will have given automatic compression to fit to one disc;
    3. Now this is the point you struggling with-Press 'Back up'; 4th icon in from the right of dvdshrink; screen will change;
    4. You should now see a tab that says 'Target Device'; Under 'select backup target', go to drop down menu and then select 'ISO image file and burn with DVD Decrypter'.
    5. Under 'select target image file' go to where you would like to save this file that will be created, e.g 'My Films';
    6. Go to tab that says 'Burn Settings'; Now this is a suggestion and i would select a burn speed of 4x max (usually takes about 15mins to burn) to safe; Higher burn speeds can effect playback on some dvd players IMO.

    That's it!!!

    Depening on CPU/RAM etc. it should take approx. 30-40 mins to 'shrink' the file and then it will take another 15 mins to burn the 'newly' created dvd. Do NOT do anything with drives as dvdshrink will automatically start the burning process for you once the files are shrunk.

    Do NOT forget to put a blank disc in drive BEFORE starting this whole process.

    I have made this as clear as possible and if you follow these steps you will be ok. Please post back if successful or unsuccessful so as it may help others.

    Thanks
