  1. I installed Cuttermaran to do some simple video editing, but I can't figure out how to open files with it. I DVDdecrypted a movie and it's now saved as a Nero Showtime Movie. Cuttermaran is looking for mpv, m1v, and m2v files. Can I convert the Nero files? Thanks!

What format did you output from Decrypter ?

I believe cuttermaran requires elementary streams. You either needed to output demux audio and video streams from DVD Decrypter, or you will now have to demux what you have. I would suggest deleting what's there now and demuxing using decrypter.

To do this, select IFO mode, then the Stream Processing tab. You will have to set both audio and video to demux by clicking on each stream that you want.

This will give you a .m2v and an audio file (could be .ac3, could be .mpa, depends on the audio on the disk). Cuttermaran should be able to work with this.

  3. Thanks, Gunslinger. I'll try that.

Also, I downloaded a couple things when working on this problem. Are these of any use to me for basic editing, or should just I delete them?

    No codec packs.

You can also use Gspot to identify what codec you need or what you have. Gives a little more info than AVIcodec.

The problem with codec packs are you get the codecs you might need and a whole bunch more you don't want. They can conflict and mess up your whole system. Use Gspot or AVIcodec to identify, then download only the ones you need for the file. Save yourself a lot of grief.

  5. Did you demux?

  6. Lol, I went ahead and deleted the codec pack.

I tried to demux with DVDDecrypter, and successfully got the video portion (which I opened with Cuttermaran), but no sound files were created. Both audio and video boxes were checked when I decrypted. Do I need some codecs or something?

Did you end up with two files when you had Decrypter demux the video? You should see the audio with an extension to identify it.

Or did you check the original with Gspot to see what the audio format was? If it was AC3, you may need a decoder.

  8. No, I never even saw two files after demuxing. Only a video file. What's happening with the audio file? I didn't download Gspot because I have AVIcodec, but first I need to get the audio files I suppose.

You have tick both streams, but you also have to click on each stream individually and then click the Demux radio button. This is a trap for young players because you assume that by ticking both streams, and select demux once, you get both - you don't.

  10. Ok, I got the demux to work. However, the video is split into 4 files and the audio is one big file. Can I make the video all one file? Cuttermaran will only let me open one at a time.

Go Tools/Settings/IFO Mode and select "File Splitting = None".
