i Jus got this burner Pioneer DVR-110D Beige DVD Writer DVD +/-R/RW 16x16x8x6 6x DVD+/- Dual layer IDE OEM. and i bought a 50 pack of Maxell dvd-r.

It can burn dvd data disc's, audio cds. But it wont back-up my dvds. ive tried creating ISO file image with dvd shrink with clonedvd. ive tried the same thing with DVD Decrypter. As soon as it gets to burn when it gets to the writing process it says aborting or failed. ive wasted like 12 disc's trying to do it.

my friend is a computer wiz and he doesnt know why i cant back up my dvds.

Have you only tried the one type of discs ?

Maybe try some other media codes, or possibly even check to see if there is a firmware update for your burner.
    If in doubt, Google it.

ive tried backing up the pacifier, bad news bears(80's ver.) and lois and clark season 1, disc 1. for the disc's ive tried the many ways listed above for each

Please post your Nero log file so we may help you troubleshoot it. It should be in your Nero directory called "NeroHistory.log".

So you use Shrink to rip, then shrink down to 4.3 gig, then set ti to burn via Nero? Does Nero complete and then the completed disk will not play?

i cant get my nero log at the moment im on my other computer but wht i would do to back-up a dvd is:

first, i have a double cd tray. the top one is a regular dvd-rom drive. under it is my dvd burner. i put a maxell blank dvd in the burner and the original dvd in the dvd-rom. i use dvd shrink and click on full disc. than go to burn. in it it says burn to pioneer dvd. it encodes and when it goes to burn. it will say writing and about ten seconds later it says faild.

i do the same thing for iso's. but in buning section i have burn with DVD Decrypter. when its done encoding. i right click on the .rar it crates and open with DVD Decrypter. i click burn and again on the writing process it says failed or aborted.

use DVDINFO PRO or DVD IDENTIFIER to find out the exact media code on those MAXELL DVD-R discs that you're using. smells like TAIWAN RITEK & if they are that's where your problem lies. try using a different brand of dvd media like VERBATIM or TAIYO YUDEN which could be sold under brands like SONY, FUJI, the spindles would say MADE IN JAPAN. those are the ones to purchase and if all of that fails then your drive is probably defective in some way. check out the PIONEER FORUM at CDFREAKS.COM. there are problems with that drive.

If you can burn data disks and it stops buning that quickly, I doubt it is media. Make sure DMA is enabled. What speeds can you rip with with decrypter? If you can get past 4x, this will indicate that your hardware is okay.

You might want to edit your Nero Serial number out

Your media is CMC MA - G. AE1 according to your log. I did a quick search on your drive and there was a post regarding this media being "good" for your drive. I would still try better media, as the media guide site http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm still lists CMC Mag as crappy media. You are also using an older version of Nero 6 [6.6.0.8], you should get the latest Nero 6 [6.6.0.16]. You should also check for the latest firmware for your drive as it may fix the compatibility issue, if it is one.

There is a list of firmware releases for this burner here : http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Firmware/SingleModel.aspx?DriveId=1192 . Here is the media list for this drive:
    http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Reviews/Specific.aspx?ArticleId=15018&PageId=2

I'm pretty sure if you update your firmware you should be ok as your media is on their supported list (with the proper firmware).
