Buy Ulead DVD Workshop 2. It let's you put CSS and Macrovision on your DVD's. This is the same as pressed DVD's. Mom and pop won't be able to copy it with Nero. Smarter people can still bypass it, like all commercial discs.

DVD WS 2.x doesn't allow you to add that to your home burned DVD's. It's for mastering to DLT and sending out to get pressed.

The Macrovision "might" work if you turn it on and burn a dvd image file to your hard drive, then burn the image file to DVD, but that's a total ymmv...

No, you can't put CSS on a homemade disk - period. There is no burner made that can write to the proper location where the CSS key is stored. And even if it could, there is no blank media that has this area available for recording.

Macrovision is another story, but you need to purchase a license from them to add the flag to your disks.

is it possible to enter a blank ifo or something to confuse the disc from being ripped? i was thinking landlord was making dvd's for a business and wanted his customers to ask/pay him for more copies and not do it themselves...i really don't know what they're asking. but if BIG companies can't stop it they sure as hell won't

Actually, his whole premise was silly and has been asked and answered many times before - and, the question was correctly answered on the first post. After that, the fun really began, with a lot of posters making "sport" of "thelandloard's" original question. Then he gets angry, and starts to call everybody idiots, all the while admitting that he has only been doing DVDs for about two weeks. Then he wants his very own "personal trainer" to teach him, while hiding the hidden knowledge from the rest of us "idiots"!

No, as far as I'm concerned, he got exactly what he deserved. I won't go out of my way to help this guy in the future (but then, I'm one of the "idiots").

Basically;

1) There is no 100% copy method except stupid things like a padlock or shredder
2) You can put limited copy protection on your disc by creating a dummy VOB and putting either a scratch on or a hole through the disc in this dummy VOB.

You then start getting all upitty and accusational because we are 'idiots' and didnt read your original post.

You should have let this go to f***** bed BEFORE you asked the question.

You asked a DUMB question that has been answered MANY times before, it was answered AGAIN and you get pissed.

People are here because they want to be.

Holly crap, stop it already. The answer is a big resounding,,, you CAN NOT!

I produce DVD instructional videos as business which I have distributed here and in the UK. I know for a fact my stuff is being copied! but,,, i still manage to sell about $6,000 to $10,000 steadily every single month. The fact that I can not realistically protect my videos doesn't really matter much now does it?

thelandlord - you are not paying to be here. The advice you are recieving is free of charge and comes from users who are giving up their own time for you. You can't really demand answers as you did from your very first post, nor lay in to people when you don't get what you want. Please try to be civil to other users. It's a lot better, trust me.

To anyone else who jumped on this thread - please try not to, no matter how tempting it is. If you've got nothing to add, it isn't worth a post. It just blows things up a bit.
