  1. ok... here's the deal.
I have captured a test video from camcorder - sorry not digital YET - at 720-480 with ULead DVD movie factory. If I use the same program to down size the video to 480x480 (svcd) and burn there are alot of artifacts in the final cut.

So in steps vdub and tmpgenc. Using vdub (latest ver) I can apply filters and clean up the video as well as size it down. However when I run through - ie play to see the results it becomes very choppy, audio in particular.
Both audio and video are set to full processing mode. I have shut down all background apps but still get this choppiness during preview. Should I be concerned about this? What is wrong here?

I have been trying to get the whole capture, convert and burn process (nero) right for a while now and like a lot of other people am starting to get frustrated with my results so far. (dvd+rw looking enticing)
If my capture (720x480) is in good condition do i need to run it through vdub for cleaning or can i just run it through tmpgenc for conversion? (by the way - tried this and so so results).

any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

  2. I use virtual dub and HuffYUV and my playback is choppy. But as long as there were not excessive drops and such during the capture, the video and audio is still all there.

If you convert it to MPEG, the final product should look and play fine.

Some codecs (such as HuffYUV) are fast when capturing, but are not designed for real-time playback. It is designed for lossless capture with the intent of converting to another format.
