  1. This is strange: I captured some video clips from a Tape, and it occured that the videos shorter than 6 minutes worked alright, but the clips longer than 6 minutes length had audio for the first 2 minutes only, the audio stopped at 2.03 into the track. I used VirtualDub for capture and a TerraTec TValue card. While capturing everything sounded fine, after capturing I cut the starts and ends of the files, everything as usual.

Since this mistake occured regularly, I hope there is a reason and a solution! How about that?

How long is the reulting (uncompressed file) ? What kind of file systems do you use (fat32 or NTFS) ? If FAT32, you know about the 4GB filesize limit?

  4. I use fat32. I know the 4GB problem, but the uncompressed avi I recorded off tape were all below 4GB. But hey, all files in which that sound error occured, were bigger than 2GB!!! What about that?

The 2 GB limit is the avi type-2 limit (I believe).Thiy means, that files produced by virtualdub cannot be read by all programs (some can).I encounter this prob with files > 9 Min (DV compressed).I don't know, if this is related to your problem!

  6. I had a similar problem once when I used TMPGenC to cut part of an AVI file out into another AVI file. If I remember correctly, this quote from another posting was the solution:

"In case this was a simular issue to what I was seeing, the answer (pointed out to me by KuskenLars) to go into TMpgEnc->Enviorment Settings->VFAPI Plug-In, click on "Direct Show Multimedia File Reader", and right click to up it's priority until it was on top."

Check and see if VirtualDub has a similar setting.
