  1. I was following that Tutorial about adding subtitles on a DivX and converting it to (S)VCD. But when I open the video file on VirtualDub, this message appears:
"VirtualDub has detected an improver VBR audio encoding in the source AVI file and will rewrite the audio header with standard CBR values
during processing for better compatibility. This may introduce up to
178742ms of skew from the video stream. If this is unacceptable, decompressthe *entire* audio stream to an uncompressed WAV file and
recompress with a constant bitrate encoder. (bitrate: 157.2 +-38.7kbps)"
    Somebody can help me?? :(

  2. just ignoe that and keep proceeding, u r gonna xtract audio to wav, but that doesnt matter....

    (FOLLOWING MAY BE FALSE....)

I think that when that error pops up... the avi is able to be converted into a vcd... but I think that when it DOESNT.. tis not...

Cuz I ahve 25 movies, 6 of them have errors like that, and they become vcds PERFECTLY, others dont, and therefore they dont turn to vcd.... I dont think its a coincidence... but oh well...

    good luck

  3. Well, the problem is that 90% of my movies are presenting that msg. And I can't even cut or edit the movies that present that msg, cause the audio of the output file do not come synchronized with the video.

  4. in my comp, itsother way around....
if the movies present that message... that means I can convert the avi into 2 mpgs... and then burn the mpgs in VCD mode :-)

Unfortunately, 90% of my movies DONT give me that error, and I lsoe audio sync....

    Just do this....

    Open VDUB (latest) (1.4.8)
file..open video file (avi)... make sure it gives u that error... (if it doesnt, go for another movie)

under audio... choose FUll Processing and AVI audio...
    udner audio choose conversion (44100)...
    udner audio choose compression... (NONE)

File... SAVE WAV.... now just wait....
when its done.. open tmpgenc 12a (other versions DONT WORK!!!!!!)
use original avi is video inm... new wav file as audio in.... and choose a path to OUTPUT the mpg....
Load... your templae (mine is VCD(ntsc))

(if u want to cut the mpg...)
settings... udner advanced, check source range, and set the aprt u ant outputed...
    then click ENCODE...

    Done.. no audio sync probz!!!!!!!!1

(if this works for u... [it works for me] maybe u can come back here, and show me step by step how to do it if it DOESNT show u message?) cuz u know how to do it without error msg, i know WITH error msg... thx dude, appreictae itin advance!

  5. Thanks for that, I will try it. If it doesn't work, I'll try this tutorial to sync the audio on mpg -> http://www.vcdhelp.com/sync.htm

I've just converted a "non-msg DivX" to SVCD and it worked. In my case, I'm adding subtitles on it, so, I just followed the tutorial presented here -> http://www.vcdhelp.com/srtsubsvirtual.htm

ps: 1)Where can I get that tmpgenc version?? I'm using the 2.5
2)I don't understand this: "check source range, and set the part u want outputed..."

    I hope it helps

  6. the vcdhelp/sync page tutorial is uselss... it doesnt show the main thing...

main thing: HOW THE HELL R WE (me, u, other peeps) supposed to find otut he number in miliseconds that our audio is behind/advanced by?! Play a guessing game for 18 hours till we get the number!!!?

I read that "guide" like 6 days ago, and over again 2 days ago (in case I mised something) it truly is uselss, Unless you are a very luky guesser!

U can ask some1 here for the 12a version, or search on this site, or add me on icq and get it off me (icq: 123457456)

Source range thing... You use this if you want to split the avi into 2,3,4,5,etc MPGs while "encoding"... If you dont.. u dont need this...

Click On settings, advanced... cehck Source range box... then double click it... and then click where u want to START encoding, and where u want to stop, then redo it and start where u last ended, and end where u want...

    :-)

P.s. I make VCDS (not svcds... dvd doesnt support them!) so help me out on how to make those without losing audio sync when there is "Non msg divx"

Thx... again in advance! yer the only guy thats actually putting some effort into helpin...
the admin/mods here keep mvoing my posts around thinkin its funny sending me to 15 different forums lookin for it...!

  7. "This may introduce up to
178742ms of skew from the video stream"

I thought that was the exact number. Have you already try to synchronize using that number?? [/quote]

  9. To begin with, VirtualDub DOES NOT support VBR MP3 (I am not sure if it supports even MP3 for that matter !). In order to open a Divx movi with MP3 audio, you need one of the following

    1) Special MP3 version of VirtualDub, called VirtualDub MP3Freeze, a tweeked derivative of VirtualDub 1.4c

    2) NanDub. A derivative of VirtualDub specifically written for Smart Bitrate Control using Divx 3.11 alpha codec.

Both are available on web. I have both. I usually prefer NanDub because it has a unique feature that none of the other VirtualDub versions have. It finds for you the closest ending keyframe within given MegaBytes size range. For example, If I have 1300MB movie encoded in VBR (both audio and video), and I want to split into two 650 MB, all I have to do is go to Edit -> Go To menu and choose Last Key Frame in 650 MB. And the pointer will move to correct keyframe. Without this feature, it would be extreamely difficult to find correct middle keyframe (by MB size) for splitting. Mind you, in VBR encoded clips, half the keyframes DOES NOT mean half the clip size in megabytes because bits are not allocated evenly.

  10. And with this Nandub, can I add subtitles on the video too?? Or I have to use this VirtualDub version?
Do u know where I can find them??

Thank u a lot for helping!!!
