  1. Hello people

At the time I'm trying to convert my captured avi to divx but for some reason don't work.
I've followed the guide on this site (vdub guide), but when I press save it says that the divx is hacked. Now I've tryed to download the 3.11 that is on this site and I have tryed 4.12, but it still sayed that it is hacked, and when I say that it sould just go on that little pop-up comes up but nothing happens, I let it run for 1 hour and 40min. but still nothing.

Is there a special divx codec I shall youse?
Can I youse the 4.12 codec, if do I half to install both 4.12 and 3.11 cause with only 4.12 vdub can't find a divx compression to the sound?

  2. Hi there.
1 - ignore the warning about it being a hacked codec, all divx are hacked codecs and the warning is, i think, a legal 'getout' type thing from the program's author.
2 - it can take ages to convert avi to divx (depends on cpu, filesize, resolution etc...). As long as the pop up window shows 'activity' then just leave your computer on and go to bed.

The pop up should show you an estimated finish time (it can take a little while to settle down so don't rely on the initial estimates it gives). But just work it out for yourself. If vdiub is processing 5 frames per second of a video which is 25fps format, its going to take 5 times longer than the source to encode!
I've routinely spent 24hours doing encodes - patience is a virtue!
