  1. I am converting my WAV file from one of my movies to AC3 (DD). I want the best quality possible but I also want it to be compatible with a lot of DVD players. I have been told that I can use BeSweet. is that the best program or is there something better? on one of the guides I have seen, it says that the .ac3 files that BeSweet makes aren't compatible with some Pioneer dvd players. again, i'm looking for best quality.

Try FFMPEGGUI and encode with a high bit rate.

That incompatibility stuff was ages ago.
Both ffmpeg and BeSweet use the same AC3 encoder and although there are no longer any compatibility issues the quality is definatly not the best.

For better quality you might want to try TMPGEnc's AC3 encoder, the one that comes with Scenarist or even SoftEncode.

  4. hmm.. ok what about the DVD Authoring program, Sonic DVDit!, that has a convert to AC3 option, is that any good? and on a side note, how good of an authoring program is it?

Softencode isn't sold anymore, so the legality of aquiring a copy is dubious. Sony do sell a very good AC3 plugin for use with sound forge and Vegas/DVDA.

  6. Sonic is owned by Sony, so I would imagine their AC3 encoder is very good, no matter what app it's in.
