A year ago LaCie was within a few weeks of selling its FastCoder which would enable even G3 Macs to encode MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 video from DV sources in real time. But the project fell through, possibly because of some compatibility problems with Panther. Today LaCie announced it will start selling FastCoder in February. It will be bundled with a version of CaptyDVD that provides AC-3 audio encoding.

I love that so many companies are supporting OS X these days. The more options we have the better life is for us.
