Hi, any ideas on how to back up old vhs commerial tapes to dvd. I have a canopus 100 and new liteon 16 dvd dl burner and I'm using either Nero6 Ultra Edition or Ulead MediaStudio Pro 7. Decoding is the problem, but I saw a seller of a canopus 100 on ebay saying that there is a way to set up the converter to read the old vhs tapes. I have tons and some you can't get any longer on tape or DVD, hoping to makes back ups for my kids and thier kids. Any help would be great. ThanksK9bliss

The way I do it with a ACVC-100: Transfer to the computer with WinDV. Filter and edit in VirtualdubMod, encode with TMPGEnc encoder and author with TMPGEnc DVD Author. You need a decent VHS player. A TBC is recommended, but I do fine with just a cheap JVC VHS player.
If you are talking about Macrovision disabling with the ADVC, then the older units do it, not sure about the newer ones. You hold down the input switch for about 15 seconds and that should disable Macrovision.
