I have the Panny E85 hooked up to my TV with RCA cables, and then a VCR hooked up to my Panny E85 (out from VCR to line in on DVD) only to dub videos. I also have a cable box in the equation, which is hooked up through my Panny recorder.
My TV doesn't have an S-video slot as it's an older 1989 model. I have slight intereference of white moving lines, it's subtle but enough to cause any writing on the DVD screen to look a bit distorted and wavy. Anything I can buy to remedy this? I'm not sure what to do and it's driving me crazy. Would the S-video hookup help? Do they sell RCA to Svideo cables?

It sounds like RF interference. You might try unplugging a few cables at a time to see where it's coming from. Is it recorded on the DVDs or just showing on the TV screen?
It's difficult to filter interference unless you can find the source. You should check that your outlets are properly grounded, and even try plugging the devices into different outlets. If you have cable TV hooked in, check the ground wires for it also.
If it is coming from the AC line, you can try a filter, it might help.
EDIT: I doubt the SVHS would help unless you had that input on the TV. -
It's just showing on the TV screen not recording on the dvd-r's. I didn't have this problem before I hooked up the recorder. Is there anyway to lessen it other than getting a new TV set? Would a new TV set with S-video even help? Does S-video make a big difference in the picture clarity? The set I'm using now is 16 years old.Originally Posted by redwudz

S-Video or AV cables are much better than coax. With Coax I always get background noise or in some cases wavy lines. Coax is very susceptible to interference. S-Video or AV cables are crystal clear (I haven't noticed a difference between the two).
