  1. I have a DivX video file that I cannot play. I use AVIcodec to check the file and it say

    Video : 608 MB, 794 Kbps, 29.970 fps, 576*324 (16:9), DX50 = DivXNetworks Divx v5, Unsupported
    Audio : 98 MB, 128 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, 0x674F = Ogg Vorbis (mode 1), Unsupported

I have already downloaded the latest DivX codec and it can play some other DivX file, but for those which has Ogg audio, it always say unsupported. Why is that? Does the Audio codec affect Video codec as well? OR is there something missing in my DivX installation.. please help

    thanks

If it uses vorbis audio then it is something other than an avi (avi doesn't support vorbis audio) so you would need a splitter/parser for whatever it is, be that ogm, mkv or mp4.

Here's a good site and guide for ogg, ogm media. http://ld-anime.faireal.net/guide/ogm-en

For the audio, you generally only need to install the ogg codec (splitter, parser, etc.):http://tobias.everwicked.com/oggds.htm

Could also be a mkv file.

To play a media file you need a splitter or a source filter and parser. Basically this takes the file, splits the streams and then spits the audio, video, etc. out in a form that the decoder (in this case DivX) can recognise and decode. Now windwos comes with an avi splitter but not ones for ogm, mkv, etc.

Personally I use Gabest's splitter and corevorbis for ogm files.
