  1. I'm posting this again because I haven't received any replies on how to solve this problem:
I want to add music under my menus, the same audio clip. On the first menu where I have just links to the movie and chapters it plays fine. When I go to the next pages which are pages that have chapter templates, the first chapter on the page flashes on and off, and the audio does the same thing, it starts and stops with the flashing of the first chapter box. Any suggestions?

Are you using a switched menu template ?

Switched menus are more than one menu, which link to each other via an auto action. When the button gets focus, the menu switches to another menu.

Under the DVD spec, audio is discrete for each menu, so if a menu switches, the audio will start again from the beginning.

Either simplyfy your menus structure, or go with a different audio plan.

  3. As far as I know I'm not using switched menu templates. I had 13 chapter points in my project, I chose 'Add scene selection menus' from under the magic wand button. I picked a template with 6 boxes, this gave me three additional menus with 6,6, and 1 chapter box. Do I have any options as far as wanting to have audio under these menus?

I have just recreated what you did using a stream I had for another project. I added a set of chapters using auto-chapter (for convenience), the added Scene Selection Menus using the wizard. I then dropped an AC3 audio track onto the Audio timeline under each menu.

When I come into this menu, the audio runs until either I move on to the next menu, or the clip reaches it's end, in which case it loops. It does not stop and start when I move from chapter item to chapter item.

    Nothing seems to be wrong.

  5. When you say 'until the clip reaches it's end', I only have stills in the chapter boxes. The first chapter box is automatically selected at the start of each page and it 'blinks' on and off, I don't have to go from chapter to chapter, it's as if it's 'looping' the first still. Is there something I need to click to stop the looping?

Is this in a stand alone player, or a software player on your PC ?

The first item should be highlighted, but it should just sit there after than until a choice is made (assumes this is not a motion menu).

The audio should be added to the audio bar across the bottom of the menu design screen.

Two other things have occurred to me as I type.

    1. On the menu screen, click on the PBC tab on the right hand side. Check the value in the Timeout box. If you want the menu to loop indefinately, the value should be inf. Any other value denotes the number of second the menu will hold for.

    2. Check the length of the audio clip you are using. If it is very short, you will see this sort of behaviour.

  7. I've been testing on a standalone player. On the things you mentioned I do have the timeout box set to inf. I even tried different combinations with the other boxes (force select btn. also set to inf. ) Nothing seems to work. i'm ready to pull my hair out. Another interesting thing that's starting to happen is that some of the chapter boxes when clicked, go to the start of the movie. About 4 out of 13 chapters. But if I go on my remote and click next, etc. the chapters start where they're supposed to. On the movie timeline the chapter points are in the correct spots, so why have a few of the chapter points changed to the beginning of the movie? I'm losing my patience.

First thing I would do is delete the compiled DVD files from your drive.

Are you using the same audio file on other menus, and does it work there ? If you are using the same audio successfully elsewhere in the project, try compiling again.

If you aren't using it elsewhere, delete it from the assets list, and import it again. Drop it onto the menu audio slot, and recompile. You could also relink your chapters, just to be sure.

As I said, I could no reproduce your problem here, which would imply it something to do with

    a) your asset files,
    b) your setup,
    c) something peculiar that happened when compiling this project

  9. Try using a different template for the Scenes, test before burning,u
are using the standard version, right ?

it seems your menu is timing out at 10 sec,so does the audio
so it returns to the first chap after playing..

  10. I'm using the same audio file on all the menus and it only plays correctly on the first menu (Play movie link, chapters link) it doesn't work on the ones with the templates from the 'Add Scene selection menus'. I'll try importing it again and recompiling, I'll even try new templates. When you say you reproduced with no problem, was it burned and tested on a standalone. Because it plays fine on my computer, but not on my standalone. The disc plays fine on my standalone except for this audio problem. Gansta, the menus not timing out after 10 seconds, when I bring up one of the chapter pages, the first highlighted chapter box blinks on and off, and the audio stops and starts with that blinking, so you only hear about a second of audio, the song starts, stops, starts again.
When I tried compiling without the audio track underneath, the first chapter box is highlighted, but doesn't blink, it stays solid.
