I just authored a DVD using a VMG menu structure and two VTS's. The reason for this is to accommodate two different video aspect ratios in each VTS. One is 4:3 and the other is 16:9. The video plays through fine from the first to the second VTS. I set the navigation structure to play through from the first title set to the second. The aspect ration switches just fine from 4:3 in the first VTS to 16:9 in the second VTS. My problem is with the audio. The first VTS is AC3 audio and the second is LPCM. When I select either title from the title menu, the audio plays fine in either VTS. But when the video plays through from the first to the second VTS, the LPCM audio in the second VTS doesn't play. I can convert the audio in the second VTS to AC3 so both VTS's have the same audio type. My question is; why does the VMG structure handle the change is aspect ratio from one VTS to the other but not the change is audio type?

Have you tested the DVD in several software players and SAPs?

Yes, it acts the same in SAPs as well as when played in a computer.

I would suspect that the player has problem switching audio from one format to other when quickly switching. It also could be a bug.
Try to post this on DVD Lab forum.
When you changed navigation, did you force audio to zero stream. I know it is not necessary, but may be when you switch from different format, player processor get stuck.
Did you try to use remount to switch tracks?

I've had a similar issue when trying to use two different audio formats on the same disc. Sometimes the symptoms displayed by the final disc mimmick yours; other times one or the other audio tracks don't play at all. Lesson learned. I don't try that anymore. I convert all audio on all menus, soundtracks, slideshows and everything else to the same format before importing into DLP. Never had any troubles that way.

I also make sure that all video, slideshow and audio data for a particular disc reside in the same folder before I import.

All that prep works seems to pay off in the final product - for me anyway.

I converted the LPCM track to AC3 so both VTS's have AC3 audio and everything works fine.
