  1. Hey there. I recently had my plextor 716A drive mess up and it couldn't read dvd+r. I therefore had to record a video made using pinnacle 9.3 onto dvd+rw. I have a new drive now and want to transfer my movie from the rw to a +r I have tried nero, intervideo dvd copy and roxio easy dvd copy and none will make an image of my disc. Of course there is no write protection on it and it always fails within 1-2 %. Roxio says "unrecovered read error - medium error." 03/11/05
    Anyone have any advice/ideas.
    Thanks in advance.
(I would really hate to have to re-encode my entire movie 1H17M long)

Why are you trying to make an image of the disc?

Just do a straight copy from the +RW to your HD using Explorer and then fire up Nero and burn the +R as a DVD Video

  3. YOu mean with dvd you can just copy and paste the files on the disc, there is no directory structure that will be lost in the copy that won't be put back into order when reburning on +r?

    Great
    Thanks

You can just copy the files from the +RW disc to any HD directory. When you use Nero to burn the +R, you select "DVD-Video" as the format (NOT DVD-ROM). That automatically sets up the VIDEO_TS folder in the project pane on the left side of the Nero screen. Then just click and drag the video files you had copied ...all of them ...into the VIDEO_TS folder in the Nero pane on the left. Click burn and it'll make those folders on the disc for you as it burns it

  6. just a note: sometimes when i have done this with either already backed up dvds or homemade ones, at times, using ifoedit you still have to use "get vts sectors" on the ripped disc. So i do not think the simple copy and paste does things 100% correctly. However if i used a ripper to do the same disc, i dont have to use ifoedit at all.

and the only reason i would check that in ifoedit to begin with is the older recordnow max (veritas) would spit out a disc before burning saying their was an error. So i would check the ifo files with ifoedit and each time it did do that (the burning app) it was because i had to do a get gts sectors. The blank dvd was fine, it did not burn something then spit it out, it was all before any burning started
