    Thank you.

One more q on the subject: If people connect their DVD players to their stereo systems with Front, Center, Rear speakers, etc. would it also be just as "unnecessary for a standard DVD audio track?"

lordsmurf, I take it it is not possible to disable the 'preview' feature of MMC to enable cards like TV Wonder VE to capture at 720x480 which they are capable of doing with other software?

Other cards like to use the "smart tee" (as one program calls it) type of preview. Not a true overlay. It's not very good to do the "smart tee" method. It eats CPU for one, and is not a very accurate display.

Hm. So should I use Ulead's 720x480 capture with this card or stick with other software's (MMC, Vegas) 352x240?

In the end it'll be rendered to 720x480 but isn't it best to capture it like that originally for TV captures > DVD?

You get an aspect ratio error when capturing 720x480 with a BT card unless the ATI driver accounts for this somehow (by adding black on either side of the capture). If ATI does this then that would be the only BT driver that works that way.

So chances are it does NOT work that way and your aspect ratio is off.

In short one shouldn't use a BT card to capture straight-to-MPEG unless you are using the BTwincap driver then your aspect ratio is ALMOST dead on ... still off a bit but close enough you would never ever know. I'm talking Full D1 720x480 resolution here. Half D1 (352x480) capture on a BT card is something that should not be done unless you are using the BTwincap driver and adjust the SHARPNESS to the proper level (at HalfD1 I think the 51 setting is "optimal"). Even then though I wouldn't do it!

I've never heard much talk about this BT based ATI card ... at least not in terms of aspect ratio.

BT cards can do a good job but they have some oddities with them that will "ruin" things unless you are aware of them.

    P.S.
I don't remember you saying what ATI capture card you have ... if you did I missed it ... but it sounds like you have one of the TV WONDER "sister" capture only cards and these or least some of them do use the BT chipset.
