  1. I have a canon zr40 dvcam. I have it hooked up to my pc via 1394 to a Ti controller. I have tried to capture with premier, movie maker and virtual dub. I get the same result no matter what app or setting i use. One full second of capture (30 frames) then nothing. If I capture 4 minutes of video then stop the capture. The file that I have will be aorund 1.2 mb for DV and only be one second long. I get no error messages and can not find jack about this issue online. ne help will be greatly appreciated. As a side note as well, in movie make 2, when i load up a clip on the storyboard it is fine, but as soon as i apply an effect or transition "BLIP" movie maker 2 is gone!! no message or ne thing. I have tried mpeg4, mpeg2, and mpeg1 files all same result?

I have had this exact same problem. What you said about MM2 "disappearing" was what matched it exactly. I was pulling my hair out until I found the solve for it.

The good news is you can fix it.

The bad news? You'll need to do a fresh new installation of Windows 2k/XP... and this time, don't go anywhere near the NIMO CODEC PACK, which is the culprit. Just uninstalling Nimo won't solve it. Unless you have a system restore point from befoer you added it.

If you never used the NCP, I don't know what to tell you... it is one of your various codecs causing the problem, plain and simple. I figured it out by setting restore points before installing each codec on a fresh install of XP Pro, and everything was fine up til Nimo... then the errors came back just as you describe them above... then I rolled the system back to pre-Nimo and it all worked again.

    Good luck to ya!!
