Hi, this is the problem: I'd like to cut some unwanted scenes within a DVD film, so I want to edit the VOB file, trim the unwanted part , then burn.
I triedwith ulead mediastudio 6.5: I renamed the .VOB in .MPG, opened it within mediastudio, made the changes, save (some problems in this, cause it recompresses it.. I have not found yet the way to tell him to leave the file AS IS, without changing anything) and then burn.
Looks like working (I tried just reading the changed file with PowerDVD on hard disk; maybe I have to use IFOEDIT and "get VTS sectors".. I think my "cutting" changes something in the IFOpointers), but I found that the audio is no more 5.1but is lowered to something like "dolby digital 2.0"!!!.
Any ideas???
Thanks a lot and bye from Italy
Simone

With DVD2AVI you can cut within a VOB file by using a slide bar.
I only used it for cutting out ending credits, but I also needed vstrip to add the correct End LBA time from the shortened VOB file.
I'm not sure if this suits your problem, so I don't go into details.
Bug me if you have questions.

I believe a tool called chopperxp can do what you want. I've tried it once or twice.

Depending on what your trying to accomplish, you may want to look at VOBrator (in the TOOLS section). If you want to remove things like the copyright warning, menus, etc from the MPEG stream, VOB will do this for you. It will create a new VOB, sans the gak you wanted removed. Just deselect the cell id's in the gui. It has a preview feature, so you can see what each cell contains. Usually each menu, warning screen, movie studio intro clip, etc is contained within it's own cell. Just turn them off. You can also use this method to remove subtitles, and unwanted additional audio tracks.

You use DVD2AVI to create an AVI, or to frame seve to an MPEG encoder. It will not create another MPEG directly.
