  1. I'm creating a library of music videos, recorded on a Panasonic DMR-HS2. Each video, upon disc finalization, ends up being its own .VOB. I ultimately will have dozens of volumes of videos. I will want to make compilations of various videos for people, so conceivably I can grab individual .VOB files from different volumes and combine them into a DVD.

Since the videos are already .VOB files, I assume there's no re-encoding that has to be done.

Question: what is the easiest way to make a menu for that compilation disc? Can it be done without re-encoding the videos?

Also, if I have a feature-length movie as .VOB files, can I make a menu for it, adding chapter points, again without re-encoding?

    Thanks in advance,

  2. You can do all that with DVD Maestro, DVD Menu Studio, and a demux program for the vob files.

    This is what you do:

    Demux VOB files
Import m2v and ac3 into DVD Maestro
Put them on Movie 1 timeline
    Create Chapters
    Create Playlist
Create Menu on DVD Menu Studio
    Import Menu on Maestro
    Fix buttons, colors, etc.
Add the commands on how the DVD should play
    Save and Compile and burn

There should be lots of guides that cover one or more of these steps out there. You should look for them

  3. Yarf. Thanks for the info... seems a bit convoluded. No way to do it without demuxing, remuxing, unmuxing, antimuxing, outmuxing, and undermuxing?

    Thanks,

  4. Another option.
If you have the .vob, then just open it in DVD2AVI. Then save the project and open it in TMPGE and convert it to an MPEG2.
Then you can take those into Ulead or any authoring program that allows to make menus.

You could basically use the Sefy VCD guide.
