  1. I have a pioneer 343 that plays VCDs and SVCDs. I got a Apex 1500 at christmas for upstairs and it seems to play VCDs just fine but has problems with SVCDS. It will play maybe half of a SVCD movie and get out of sync and just get so bad you have to eject the cd and say screw it.

How hard would it be to take a movie I already converted to SVCD to VCD or take a mpeg2 movie and convert it to VCD? Could I just use TMPG and save a mepeg2 movie to a VCD template? Im open for a easy way to do this if possible.

    Thanks!

  2. Go ahead and try TMPG. In the project wizard choose VCD as the output. Put your original mpeg in as the source and away you go.

If you want to test your 1500, you might want to try and re-encode your original file using one of the SVCD templates in TMPG. It might be worth a shot to see if the original file is out of spec.

    Good Luck.

  4. It is a way to play SVCD's on a DVD player that does not support it

In essence what your doing is creating a non standard VCD so if your player can play VCD flawlessly then (in theory) it might play a non standard VCD......look around on the guides it is very easy to do ...

Using an mpg editor (like Tmpgenc) de mux the file then mux the file as a
    VCD non standard .......

Hope that helps....that way you may keep the level of quality and with out the need to re-encode...please note it may not work...but it just might be worth a shot
