I have a .MDS file along with the .ISO file. Do I need the MDS? What is it?

If you have the ISO file that is all you need to burn a disc from the ISO image.
According to this MDS= Directx Mid2stream file

Sure it`s not an MD5 file ? MD5 files are checksum files to verify the file you downloaded is exatly the same size as the original file.

Daemon Tools lists it in image file types, so maybe its something between a checksum and a cuesheet. For example, if you have movie.mds with movie.iso, and you choose to mount movie.mds, it mounts movie.iso
