I have seen this problem posted a few times but cannot find a solution!

I am converting avi's to mpeg using tmpgenc, usually with a constant bitrate, and all files sized to fit on to 1 dvd-r.

The problem is that on playback (on PC or standalone) the video is jerky as if 1 or 2 frames are missing every 10 - 15 seconds. This seems to have little to do with the video content i.e. not always at scenes of high action etc.

When the mpeg's are viewed prior to authoring, they play perfectly, so the problem is with the authoring software.

I am really pulling my hair out trying to solve this. Please can anybody help!

The only way I have managed to author without this problem is by trying a small sample clip with Pinnacle Studio 8. That worked perfectly. Use that I hear you saying! Well, I tried with a full disc worth of video, but after my P4 2.2 was compiling for about 48 hours and only getting half way through, I gave up!! There appears to be bugs with this program - or am I missing something.

All I want to do is get smooth video on a disk.

    Heeeeelp!

  2. I just posted this in another topic, but try converting to mpg1 instead of 2, or try splitting the file down into pieces under 2 gig apiece. The smaller sizes seem to work for me.
