  1. I'm attempting to burn a DVD with Ulead DVD Movie Factory 5. However, after inserting chapter points and clicking the next button, I receive this error:

    ---------------------------
Ulead DVD MovieFactory - Setup Menu [PRJ_20070623.dwz]: DVDMF.exe - Application Error
    ---------------------------
The instruction at "0x00000000" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read".

Click on OK to terminate the program
    ---------------------------
    OK
    ---------------------------

It disappeared last night, but has since returned. On the occasion I got past this point, I received a power calibration error.

    What gives?

    Could be many things.
As you've gotten a memory error message with a completely diff app.
    It's probably not the apps.

You could start by checking your memory sticks.
    Cleaning, re-inserting.
    Running diagnostics with memtest
    http://www.memtest86.com/

Could be another hardware problem though.

Also might be microsoft related. Bloody windows in other words.

Could also be that you're short of ram.
Are you running a lot of stuff at the same time? Do yo get this error when you're not?
Track usage with windows task manager.
Maybe download cacheman to be able to free up memory.

DVDMovieFactory is encountering an error in it's setup. Your best bet would be to reinstall it. See here http://www.explorecommerce.com/members/supportknowledge.asp?categoryid=428

  4. memtest seems fine.

It happens regardless of how much I'm running at the same time, I've used it successfully before with much more running than I'm attempting now.

Richard, all that does is crash Firefox.

Does it happen if you do not add chapter points?

You uninstalled ... and rebooted the system prior to reinstalling the product ... yes

How many chapters did you have in project ?

    Power calibration issue - try verbatim , dvd-r .

  8. It still happens without chapters.

I uninstalled, rebooted, installed, rebooted, and then attempted a burn, it didn't work.

Try burning to DVD Folders (or creating Disc Image) -- without burning to disc. Then in a separate step, burn the DVD Folders to disc.

If you cannot even burn to DVD Folders, then that's a different problem (I thought it might be a burning issue because of the Power Calibration error you are getting).

What are the properties of your assets -- video and audio. Things that sometimes choke the program can be:
    -divx or xvid videos
-some .mp3 audio (convert to PCM .wav first)

    Regards,
    George

  10. I've got to get past the memory error before I'm even reaching the PC error...so I can't burn to anything at all, whether it involves actual burning or not.

It's an MPG file I muxed together with Muxman, which is awfully picky...the file shouldn't be a problem.

Just attempted with a different MPG file...same memory error. It's not the file.

  11. Bump....and might I mention nothing has changed since I successfully burnt the last several DVDs I attempted...all using the same program, method, filetype, etc.
